How to read this
These are payments recorded in the City of Milton Transparency Center, mirrored here weekly. A big check is not a scandal; most of the largest are road projects, insurance, debt service, and the E911 arrangement with Alpharetta, and we say so. Watch for the Checkbook column in the newsletter, where we add the context line by line each month.
Vendors and descriptions appear exactly as the city wrote them. Lines paid to SunTrust Bank read like a credit card statement: the description names the store or service. A search counts each line in the city's checkbook as one payment, and one check can cover several lines. Some amounts are negative, and totals include them as the city records them. Each amount in a search links to the city's own checkbook. The city's site has no page for a single payment, so search there by the vendor's name or the date.
