How to read these numbers

A booking is not a conviction, and it is not a crime count. These figures are people delivered by Milton PD to the Fulton County Jail, as published in Fulton County's own open data, which carries no names and runs about two days behind. Where an arrestee is booked can depend on agreements between agencies, so booking counts can shift for administrative reasons that have nothing to do with crime in Milton. Our database tracks 2,649 Milton PD bookings back to June 5, 2011; we will publish the long-run trend once Milton PD confirms the booking-location history needed to read it honestly. Latest data: August 21, 2026.

What we publish, and why

For routine arrests, we publish counts, categories, and patterns, never names or mugshots. Charges are dropped and cases dismissed every week, and a newsletter lasts longer than a court file. When an arrest involves a violent crime or a serious felony, we report it as news: name included, drawn from primary court records, and we stay on the case until its outcome, which we report with the same prominence. Juveniles and victims are never named. That is the standard; hold us to it.

What's next here

A weekly Safety Watch section is coming to the Tuesday newsletter, and we have records requests in motion with Milton PD for incident-level reporting. Something on your street we should look into? Reply to any issue of the newsletter; a person reads every one.
