Milton will ask the court for its own tax order
Plus: the new Crabapple event space is open, Six Bridges closes its kitchen, and last call to vote.

Milton will ask a judge for its own authority to collect this year's property taxes, the city says, the next move after last week's Fulton County tax order left Milton out of it.
Start with why the county went to court. A temporary collection order, or TCO, lets a government start collecting property taxes before the year's tax digest is final. Fulton asked for one, Communications Director Greg Botelho said, "because completion of the 2026 property assessments and delivery of an approved tax digest to the State have been delayed." The county wanted "precautionary authority to begin collecting taxes," and a judge signed the order Tuesday night.
Milton was carved out of that order, and now we know why. "Milton, Alpharetta, and Roswell withdrew from the County's proceeding and were excluded from the order," Botelho said.
The city intends to file its own. "We intend to file our own petition for a TCO after the required legal advertisements are completed," Botelho said. "We expect that filing to occur within the next three to four weeks, with a court hearing likely sometime in September, depending on the Court's calendar."
What it means for your mailbox: nothing yet. "Our intention is to maintain our normal billing cycle," Deputy City Manager Bernadette Harvill said. "Should that change, we will do an abundance of communication on the new timeline."
Correction
Thursday's issue listed Friday's All Nashville Roadshow as a free event at Hyde Brewing. Two things were wrong. The show was ticketed, and it was held on the new outdoor green beside Hyde Brewing, not inside the taproom. Hyde and the green are both part of Market District Crabapple; Hyde ran drink specials during the concert. We have corrected the listing on our events page, and we thank the reader who caught it.
Crabapple Corner
The new outdoor event space at Market District Crabapple opened Friday night with the All Nashville Roadshow, the country show that filled the same spot last summer. The space sits at the eastern end of the development along Heritage Walk, across from Hyde Brewing, after months of construction.
What comes next is less settled. Market District is looking at an outdoor skating rink starting in November, and Crabapple Live, the monthly mini festival co-sponsored by the city, is slated to return next spring and summer. A permanent stage is planned, with an office building and landscaping set between it and nearby homes.
"This new outdoor space at Market District Crabapple is an exciting addition to downtown Milton," Mayor Peyton Jamison said. "It will create another welcoming place for people to gather, connect and enjoy all that Crabapple has to offer, while supporting the local businesses that make this area so special."

Six Bridges, still pouring. The kitchen at Six Bridges Crabapple is closed for a short renovation while the brewery preps what it calls a new food concept. The taps stay open in the meantime, and the weekly lineup keeps its schedule: trivia, music bingo, live music.
No word yet on the concept, who runs it, or when the kitchen reopens, which matters if you were counting on it during Restaurant Week, September 8 to 14. The brewery says more details are coming. We will pass them along.
On the Farm
The City and Equestrian Committee survey is live. If you own a horse farm or a select larger lot, check your mailbox for a postcard with a survey link. One person per household, a handful of questions, a few minutes to complete.
The goal is straightforward: understand what owners need before shaping preservation policy. Opportunities, challenges, what makes long-term ownership viable. The collective input feeds directly into how Milton approaches its defining landscape: the horse farms and larger lots that separate us from every other north Fulton suburb. School Beat
Milton police have arrested a man they identify as a former Fulton County Schools custodian, who they say entered multiple district campuses unlawfully and took items from them. The most recent intrusion was at Cambridge High on the evening of July 29, according to police.
Fulton County Schools opened the 2026-27 year on August 3, and students finished their first week Friday. Police have not said when the man's employment with the district ended, how long the break-ins had been going on, or when the arrest was made.
