Council votes Monday on another data center pause
Milton's City Council votes Monday on extending its data center moratorium again, this time by up to 180 days. We covered the last extension on Thursday: the pause was first imposed June 15, and staff have been using the time to draft the Unified Development Code amendments that will decide whether and how a data center could ever be built in Milton. Monday's vote buys them more of it.
It lands inside a full agenda. Also Monday: a presentation on Fulton County's new Behavioral Health and Human Services facility, recognition of Nan Buckner's service on the Milton Equestrian Committee, and discussion of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Vintage Pizzeria's answer: a perfect 100
On Thursday we reported that Vintage Pizzeria's Crabapple location took a 79 and a C on its July 7 inspection, that all three cited items were corrected before the inspector left, and that we would print the follow-up score whenever it came, whatever it said.
It came Friday. 100, an A, with no violations cited at all. That is a perfect sheet, and it is a point better than the 99 that same kitchen scored in January.
General manager Susan Willis told us last week that she expected a score "consistent with our previous scores." They beat them. Which is the reason this segment prints the context and not the letter alone. The follow-up is the part most people never see.

The Drive
Legacy Park and its fields are closed until the end of August
The parking project at the 8.5-acre athletic complex on Cox Road is well underway. Crews have cleared space to roughly double the number of spaces, and the gravel lot is being rebuilt in asphalt with better lighting and new stormwater pipes. A seating wall is going in, and eventually a Legacy Wall memorializing late members of the local athletic community.
The city says the work is on track to finish by the end of August. Until it does, Legacy Park and its fields are closed to the public. If your kid's team usually practices there, plan on it staying that way for the rest of the summer.

Council Watch
A garage out front on Freemanville, and improv at the park
The Board of Zoning Appeals meets Tuesday on a variance for a 7-acre Freemanville Road property, where the owner wants a garage in front of a new single-family home. The Unified Development Code generally does not allow that. The argument for an exception: tree screening is thick enough that the garage would not be visible from the road.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets Thursday at 6 p.m. with updates on Legacy Park and Milton City Park and Preserve, field allocations, this year's Wall of Fame class, and possible new offerings including improv comedy classes. Both meetings stream online.

The Equestrian Committee met. The outcome is not posted yet.
We told you Thursday that the Milton Equestrian Committee was meeting Wednesday on Birmingham Park trail improvements, an equestrian-themed camp, and a survey asking owners of three acres or more what would help them keep their land intact. We said we would report what came of it. As of Saturday night the city had not posted minutes, so we will run them when it does rather than guess. Monday's council agenda does include recognition of Nan Buckner's service on that committee.
