How this worked

1. Round 1 — Nominations: readers wrote in their pick for any of the 25 categories.
2. Round 2 — Voting: top 3 nominees per category became finalists. One vote per email per category.
3. Email verification: every ballot required a one-click magic-link confirm.
4. Bounce firewall: after each round, every voter got a "here's how you voted" email. Any that hard-bounced within 48 hours were excluded from the tally.
5. Honorable Mention: the editor's one allowed editorial nod — chosen from the top 5 vote-getters per category, with a one-sentence blurb.
6. No editorial favorites: The Roundabout has not reviewed any of these places. Winners are the people of Milton's call.
