2026 Runoff

June 16, 2026 Georgia Primary Runoff · Last updated May 23, 2026

Correction from May 21 issue

We reported Jack Miller won the HD47 primary outright with 50.7%. That figure was based on incomplete tabulations across the district's two counties. The certified result: Miller 49.26% — heading to a runoff with Brian Cochran on June 16. We regret the error.

Republican Runoff

With Jan Jones retiring after 24 years, this was the first open-seat race in HD47 since 2002. Jack Miller led the May 19 Republican primary with 49.26% — falling just short of the 50% needed to win outright. Brian Cochran finished second, advancing with Miller to the June 16 runoff. The winner faces Democrat Lindsay DeFranco in November.
